Michael primarily practices family law, focusing on issues surrounding divorce, complex property division, contested custody matters, termination suits, protective orders and enforcement and modification of child and property-related issues.
Knowing that no two families or children are alike, Michael takes an individualized approach to each one of his cases. Michael has also represented numerous clients in commercial litigation, contract disputes, business torts and construction-defect litigation.

Michael L. Rousseau grew up in Austin, Texas where he enjoyed playing baseball and golf, as well as spending time on the water and at the family ranch. After high school, Michael attended the University of Georgia, where he graduated in 3.5 years with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Risk Management and Insurance in 2012.
After completing his undergraduate degree, Michael returned to Texas to attend Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in Dallas, where he graduated magna cum laude. While in law school, Michael served as the Senior Case Note and Comment Editor for the SMU International Law Review. After earning his law degree in 2016, Michael clerked for a judge in the United States Virgin Islands and went on to work for various law firms, honing his legal skills in all aspects of civil litigation and family law matters.
As someone who enjoys interacting with people, Michael became interested in family law because he enjoys interacting with people on a personal and human level. “I enjoy connecting with people on a personal level, and practicing family law allows me to help clients navigate through what is oftentimes the most stressful and difficult of situations. Being a family law attorney also gives me the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of my clients and their families.”
When he isn’t counseling clients or litigating in the family courts, Michael enjoys golfing, skiing and spending time with his family and friends.
